Hi, we are Denis and Misha, the founders of Smoke It Fish.
We were born on Sakhalin Island and have been catching and cooking fish together since we were kids. We ate salmon, halibut, keta, smelt in different forms - smoked, dried, boiled, baked, fried. And after the meal we spent a lot of time on the mesmerizing beauty of nature. Which is forever etched in our memories.
Now, we've moved to California, become adults, but still can't find our native flavor. Yes, there is dried fish, but it's very different, not what we're used to.
Plus, as we learned more about the smoked fish industry, we were shocked at the true extent of the problem. The average person living in America eats 35 lb of fish per year, of which 15-20% is cured, dried, smoked fish. However, almost every option on store shelves had major flaws - too salty, too smoked, or over-dried.
We experimented for more than a year until we created products that combine the flavors and traditions of our childhood on Sakhalin, and at the same time modern for consumers of the 21st century.
A treat for adults, the taste of which you will remember and can eat at any time of the day.
